God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. —2 Corinthians 5:21.

Jesus was perfect, spotless, holy, righteous, and clean. Yet he became what he hated: sin. He did that on the cross, carrying the weight of the world’s sin. So, why would Jesus do such a thing? Because the Lord loved us and wanted us to be what he is: the righteousness of God. The great truth of Jesus coming to earth is that God loved us more than he hated sin (John 3:16-17). As God, Jesus entered our world of sin and death to demonstrate God’s love for all people, then gave himself to make us God’s righteousness. Praise God for his gift, a gift that is too great for words to adequately describe!.
