Now, we can hear a more powerful promise behind these words through the voice and writing of the apostle Paul to the Philippians. I have been privileged to be present at many of the most important events in people’s lives. Being present at these crossroads is a sacred trust. In those hardest moments — tragedy, catastrophe, dying, and death — verses like this one fill my heart with strength, and the promise reminds me why I answered a call to serve in waters way above my head. God’s promise in this passage is a great reminder that what he began when he redeemed his people out of Egypt, he completed by bringing them into the Promised Land. “In your unfailing love you will lead the people you have redeemed. In your strength you will guide them to your holy dwelling.” Exodus 15:13.
