Let’s commit to doing better at helping our new brothers and sisters in Christ grow in Christ. The apostles didn’t just lead people to Christ; they also encouraged and strengthened their faith. The early disciples recognized that Jesus had called them to do more than introduce people to faith in him; the Lord also sent them out to make mature disciples to help them become like Christ (Luke 6:40; Colossians 1:28-29). Jesus didn’t send us out to call people to make a decision about him, but to become disciples of him (Matthew 28:18-20). “They preached the good news in that city and won a large number of disciples. Then they returned… strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to remain true to the faith.” Acts 14:21-22.
