When was the last time you thought of yourself as “the righteousness of God”? What does that mean anyway? It means that we are in Right Standing with God & we have the best of qualities found in God himself! Even though we were created in the image of God (Genesis 1:26-27), we know we are not fully god-like! We know our fallibility and flaws. God is perfect in every way. We know our imperfections and our inconsistencies! With God, there are no imperfections. He is holy and righteous. So, how can we be “the righteousness of God”? Jesus, the perfect and sinless Righteous One of God, became our sin for us so we could be righteousness in him. More than grace, this is God’s gracious miracle in us! And a miracle, dear friend of Jesus, is precisely what you are!! “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” 2 Corinthians 5:21.
